Host Association

The Irish Society for the Academic Study of Religions was founded on 19 February 2011 and became a member organisation of the EASR at the annual conference in Budapest the same year and was welcomed into the IAHR in 2015. The Society has organised eight annual conferences in Dublin, Cork, and Waterford as well as a joint conference with the British Association for the Study of Religions held in Belfast in 2018.


The current and past Executive Committees and our membership is drawn from diverse fields and institutions across Ireland. The Society has established annual essay competitions, the Sídh postgraduate prize and the Iress undergraduate prize and founded JISASR, the Journal of the Irish Society for the Academic Study of Religions in 2014.
